Do you have plans this Thursday evening?
Summer sound journey, a new man in my life and a few favourite tomato recipes
Summer Yoga and Sound this Thursday evening!
There’s still time to join Mia and I for our yoga and sound workshop ‘Summer Stillness’ - there are just two spots left!
Set in the enchanted gardens of Cadenham Manor, enjoy an evening of gentle movement, sweet company, healing sounds, nourishing nature connection and of course, plenty of cake!
Weather permitting, we’re hoping to host the whole event outside - so pack a cosy sleeping bag!
Enjoy exclusive access to the enchanting four acre garden transformed by Victoria’s grandmother Elizabeth Blackwell. Allow the garden to wrap round you and hold you as you weave and wander your way between yew hedges and moats to explore the abundance of flowers interspersed by rooms full of vegetables and fruit trees. You’ll find stunning specimen trees, a series of fountains and statues to admire and fragrant old roses forming hips as we celebrate late summer.
Introducing a new man in my life
David Whyte, my latest infatuation, who you can find on Substack here.
If you only have a moment, I encourage you to read his poem “The House of Belonging”. A poem full of “golden light”, veils lifting from“darkened hearts”, “quiet candlelight”, temples of “adult aloneness” and belonging.
A dear friend lent me one of his Audio CDs which I have been listening to ‘old school’ in the car winding my way around Devon’s madly narrow country lanes (my reverse game is now on point). She somehow intuitively knew about my curiosity of thresholds in their many forms and, of the large collection she has, chose the one titled Thresholds, where “Poet David Whyte talks about the difficult transitions that are part of every human life, when we are orphaned from the homes we have carefully constructed and must learn to inhabit the world in a new way. These transitions can be understood as opportunities to engage in a deeper conversation; one that allows us to catch up with the part of ourselves that is already standing on a new frontier.”
Here’s a link to some of his audio recordings on Sounds True if you’re interested, including Thresholds.
If you have a glut of tomatoes…
I have two great recipes for you! They’re not my own, but they are tried, tested and delicious. For the last few months I’ve been volunteering at Riverford’s kitchen garden every Tuesday morning and have delighted in coming home with arms laden full of vegetables - tomatoes have been a regular feature the past few weeks.

I made this tomato, caramelised onion and red pesto galette for supper with my wonderful friend and landlady as we watched the sunset over the moors. (A little tip - take time to salt and drain the water from the tomatoes to avoid a soggy mess!)
I featured this whipped feta, roasted tomatoes, garlic and garden herb dish on the menu of a local eatery (another little side hustle) to satisfy rumbling bellies at their wine tasting and classical guitar night, we served it with warm stone baked flatbreads and my mouth is literally watering as I’m writing!

Sending much love for now!
