Sometimes we need to ask ourselves if it’s time to push the “f*ck it” button
Last weekend, some fellow wanderers and I ventured to South Devon for a weekend of walking, sea swimming and camping - the perfect trio, I think, for a summer reset.
Sometimes I like to think of these offers as a bringing together of all the elements our hearts and bodies need - and then letting the intelligence of mother nature work her magic.
Our walk lived up to its name ‘Golden Sands and Turquoise Waters’.

Camping always brings a slowing down. Your first cup of morning coffee takes ten minutes to make instead of two, and whilst the kettle is heating over the stove, instead of the usual mad rush of other little morning jobs, there’s the invitation to simply sit, keep the kettle company and enjoy the view, listening to the skylarks as the sea air brushes your cheeks.
We watched the buck moon rise over the ocean until her silver reflection danced in the water below her. (The photo doesn’t really do it justice!)
We watched the sparrows feed their baby chicks in the ladies’ bathroom - a cluster of wide, gaping, yellow beaks peaking out of the nest.
Simple, unadulterated, bliss.
Have you also ever noticed when we camp there’s a natural ritualised circle gathering? Often around the kettle in the morning and the fire in the evening, these small pockets of circle time at the beginning and the end of the day, sometimes talking, sometime musing, sometimes simply breathing together are wonderfully nourishing.
On Saturday morning we drew cards, each of us in turn, both reading and listening to the guidance they offered. They were, as ever, uncannily ‘on point’.
One question that was thrown into the mix by a dear and wickedly funny woman was, "should I push the f*ck it button?” I’ve never heard of this particular phrase before - but I love it! At what point do we stop waiting for permission (from ourselves or others), or the ‘right time’, to do what we know in our hearts we’d love to do, and instead, push the f*ck it button and leap forward into the unknown?
If you’d like to join a future offering like this one but feel a little uncertain about camping or perhaps travelling the longer distances (or something else maybe), please don’t hesitate to get in touch and let me know what’s on your mind - we may be able to find a solution together.
Moments of magic
Yoga was a sensory experience this week as we practised with the sound of rain on the metal roof, the smell of damp earth and a rainbow shining overhead.
