Listening to the Whisper - Let's Start a Weekly Ritual Together
#2 Free online Sunday evening practice starting this weekend, insights on intuition, and of course more coast path antics.
The Coast Path Coddiwomple continues…
Last week I shared a video of Part 1 our trip - here’s a link to Part 2:
The Art of Packing - or Lack Thereof
Let’s face it, I’ve never been a great packer. Although technically, I suppose, it’s determined by how one defines ‘great packer’. If you’re after someone who's packed for every single eventuality with little attention to luggage size or weight, then I’m your girl. I’ve never been a natural at the slimline approach.
This may be how I found myself a day or two before our official departure date weighing my underwear on the kitchen scale. When it comes to underwear, there’s something about safety in numbers, and unfortunately I was coming to the realisation that this trip was not going to allow me that luxury.
Fast forward a couple hundred miles along the coast path, Lindsey and I met a pair of fellow wild women travellers, one of whom shared her solution to the underwear conundrum. She opted for wearing only ‘g- strings’ for the entirety of her trip. I can see the benefits, lightweight - tick, quick dry - tick, but oh my gosh - imagine the chafing!
On the theme of walking and camping tips we had also been informed by another rather ardent sales assistant, that - and I quote - “cotton is the Devil’s cloth” (repeat in an ominous voice for full effect). This phrase would become the butt of many a joke during the trip, but turned out to be utterly true.
Bag packed, unpacked, repacked and repeated a few more times, I was ready. Given Lindsey, my fellow travel companion is about half my size, it was somewhat concerning to find out that her bag was currently considerably heavier - we had some culling to do! Out came the kitchen scales once more, and over reinforcements of gin and tonic we spent the evening debating the necessity of over a kilo’s worth of dried apricots and prunes, how many days in a row one could wear a pair of socks before it became socially unacceptable, and whether we did indeed need all the freeze dried meals given the littering of pubs and cafes along the path - it’s not exactly outer Mongolia.
Gus on the other hand had finished his packing long ago. All he needed was his own little sleeping bag, ground mat and travel towel, because for reasons unbeknown to him, Camille has said she’d rather not share a towel and apparently he wouldn’t fit in her sleeping bag. “Humph!”
Inviting in the magic
The power of intuition has sparked my curiosity recently, especially as we head into a new year. Which lesser travelled trails might we wander along if we devoted more time to developing our intuition?
I’ve been reading and rereading ‘The Light Maker’s Manifesto - How to Work For Change Without Losing Your Joy’ by Karen Walrond. In this beauty of a book Karen shares her conversations with activists and thought leaders. One piece of advice that keeps coming up is to pay attention to the whisper of our intuition.
When people ask how they might move towards causes that feel important to them, Jess Weiner, a grassroots leader in raising the self-esteem of women and young girls shares “...keep listening to the whisper. Don’t ignore it. Keep listening, and let it guide you to the very first thing, even if it’s just getting curious.”
In Karen’s conversation with Brad Montague, a filmmaker and author, he said “I feel like we listen too much to the loudest things, sometimes. But I believe that the moment we allow ourselves to hear that whisper is the beginning of unlocking our true adventure, the real thing that we’re here to do”.
Logical next step - we’re going to have to pause and get quiet to learn to hear the whisper - and why not do it together?
If you’d like to stay in touch with more of Karen’s wisdom you can do so below:
Join me on zoom for a weekly ritual to radiate heart and practice listening to our inner wisdom.
A free gathering and opportunity for supported practice every Sunday night at 8:30pm. The session will last about twenty minutes. Starting this Sunday 7th January.
Make a ritual of it - if you have time you might like to light a candle and bring along a mug of something warm and comforting.

Feeding the Field
Research has shown that our emotions and intentions produce energy that affects our field environment and in our lived experience, I think many of us feel this to be true. With this in mind, how often do we ask ourselves what we’re feeding the field?
We also know there is a particular power in collective meditation, prayer and focused intention. As a group of people radiating heart-centred states of care, love and compassion we will generate a more coherent field environment for the benefit of ourselves, each other and the planet.
We’ll be practising the Heart Lock-In technique which I shared in my newsletter last week.
How will it work?
If you’re anything like me, it can feel a bit nerve racking starting something new, especially online where it can sometimes feel just that little bit more awkward. Vulnerability overload.
If it helps, I’ll be feeling the same and I welcome you in all your nervous awkwardness, or whatever you might bring to the table on a Sunday evening.
We’ll start by logging into the zoom meeting and saying a quick hello. As a personal request, if it feels comfortable to you, I would very much appreciate it if you had your camera on for this little greeting section - pyjamas welcome! As you can imagine it is quite a bizarre feeling talking to a blank screen and I love seeing your faces. A simple smile and a wave before switching off your camera would be deeply appreciated!
Before we start the session I’ll prompt us to share whether there is anything or anyone in particular we’d like the group to radiate heart to. No worries if you have nothing specific this week, you might simply want to feed the global field with care, compassion and kindness. You also don’t have to speak out loud - you can simply write it in the zoom chat box if you prefer.
Next I’ll guide us through the Heart Lock-In Technique for about 10 - 15 minutes. If you’d rather have your camera off for this part - then of course do so.
At the end of the session I’ll prompt us to be receptive to our heart’s intuitive guidance. You might want a pen and paper to jot down whatever comes to you.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Research at the HeartMath Institute would suggest the heart is at the centre of our intuitive ability and that we have three types of intuition: implicit knowledge, energetic sensitivity and non local intuition.
Once thought to be no more than a pump, the heart is now being recognised as a sophisticated intelligence whose power is only beginning to be scientifically understood.
Surprising new research is showing that the human heart is involved in accessing what is called non-local intuition. This research reveals that the heart receives intuitive information before the brain by a second or slightly more, according to published research conducted by the HeartMath Institute.
Researchers have found a significant relationship between increased heart rhythm coherence and becoming more sensitive to our intuitive signals. As we slow down our minds and attune to our deeper heart feelings, our natural intuitive connection begins to flow.
Implicit knowledge
This is knowledge we have acquired in the past and either forgot or did not realise we had learned - “... the brain matches the patterns of new problems or challenges with implicit memories based on prior experience.” For example facial recognition.
Energetic Sensitivity
This is “... the ability of the nervous system to detect and respond to environmental signals such as electromagnetic fields”. One example of this is the feeling you get when someone stares at you. Another is animals and humans appear to have the capacity to feel a natural disaster before it happens such as an earthquake or tsunami.
Nonlocal Intuition
This is a sense of knowing something that cannot be explained by past or forgotten knowledge, or by sensing environmental signals. “It has been suggested that the capacity to receive and process information about nonlocal events appears to be a property of all physical and biological organisations and this likely is because of an inherent interconnectedness of everything in the universe.” For example, when a parent senses something is happening to their child who is many miles away.
